University of Richmond law student helped alumnus at Jerusalem law firm draft Israeli environmental legislation during international internship
january 2, 2009
Jonathan Falk of Cleveland, Ohio, a second-year University of Richmond law student, spent summer 2008 in Jerusalem, Israel, working at a law firm that specializes in environmental law.
Falk helped Richard Laster, partner and founder of Laster and Goldman Law Firm and a Richmond law alumnus, draft environmental legislation for the Israeli government.
Falk, who is studying international property, chose an internship in Israel because of his interest in international law and attraction to Israel's history and political climate. With the help of a C. Weinstein Grant for Summer International Projects and Study, Falk was able to spend two and half months in Israel conducting research for Laster and Goldman.
In addition to extensive work experience, Falk says the opportunity to live abroad for the first time and travel through Israel observing the differences in "the way things work" added value to his internship experience.
